When Semiya and Gamze’s fathers are murdered, the German police do something strange: instead of leading an open investigation, they focus their investigation on the families.

Meanwhile the killing spree continues.

Land Ohne Vater, written and hosted by Antonia Woloshyn, was Granny Eats Wolf’s first German-language localisation project, produced with Wondery and Campside Media. The project required a bilingual post-production operation across teams in London and Cologne, adapting the sound design from the English version while working at scale across two languages.

The story is dark and culturally specific. We wanted the production to carry both its German setting and its Turkish cultural thread but working within Wondery’s iconic true crime podcast sonic identity (built around controlled, light tension).

To achieve a distinctive sound for this series that respected the sensitive nature of the series, we introduced the Turkish instrument, the Bağlama. This haunting Turkish folk instrument was layered with structured electronic music, creating a sound that could hold the drama and precision of a true crime podcast while bringing in a meaningful cultural texture.

The outcome demonstrated our ability to deliver quality localisation, spatially aware sound design and music strategy across territories, languages and production teams.

The podcast was ranked number one on DER SPIEGEL's prestigious list of the best podcasts of the year for 2025.
